In line with the approval of the President Bola Tinubu, the 17 Brigade, has been formally transferred from the 8 Division back to the premier 1 Division.

According to a statement by the Acting Deputy Director, Army Public Relations, 1 Division Nigerian Army and Sector 1 Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Lieutenant Colonel Ajemasu Jingina, the transition which took place during a series of high-profile familiarisation visits aligns with the strategic directives of the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu.

Excising the 17 Brigade from the 8 Division and restoring it to the 1 Division, aims to optimize command architecture, boost operational fluidity, and sharpen the military’s response to evolving security threats across the North West.
